Dynamic Content

Buzzsprout's Dynamic Content tool lets you easily add and remove short pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll content to your podcast episodes! This means you’ll be able to add a clip to any and all episodes of your choosing!

The power here is that it is non-destructive. You can swap out the pre/mid/post-roll files at any time, to easily update all of your past episodes!

Adding Dynamic Content

From your Home page, head to your Dynamic Content tab to upload your dynamic audio files. You’ll be able to assign the content as a “pre-roll”, “mid-roll” or “post-roll” depending on when you’d like the content to play in your episodes. Change out the content at any time, and we’ll keep your previous audio in your Dynamic Content Library!

Note: Dynamic Content audio files must be 5 minutes or shorter. DYN1.png You have full control over which episodes receive this content. When you click Applied to # Episodes, you'll choose your episodes by checking and unchecking the boxes. Remember, your dynamic content is a package deal. So, the episodes you select will receive all the content that you have running. CleanShot 2024-11-27 at 10.31.27@2x (1).png

Pre & Post-Rolls

You’ll be able to apply one pre-roll and one post-roll to episodes at a time. Don't think of your pre-roll as an intro to your episodes. Don't think of these as your episode’s intros and outros (you’ll want to add those to your actual episode audio file!). Dynamic Content is perfect for content you’ll want to change easily in your episodes, like a time-sensitive announcement, so save this space for that.

Mid-Rolls

You also have the option of running your dynamic content mid-episode. Just upload your audio files and apply them to your mid-roll content. You can run up to three mid-rolls at a time.

Since mid-rolls play during your episodes, placement really matters! Our system will search your episodes for great spots, or you can manually choose your mid-roll placements. Three mid-rolls can be running at once, but you may not see all mid-rolls in every episode. Shorter episodes may only be able to run one mid-roll, while longer episodes can run more!

Audio Transitions

Dynamic Content is built to give your listeners the best listening experience possible. So you will be able to customize the transition between episode content and mid-roll content. On the Dynamic Content page, you will see a settings icon above the mid-roll option. That will take you to a page where you can choose the voiceover that best fits your podcast, or upload your own.
Pro tip: Don't include music in your transition since we include music on our end.

Tracking Dynamic Content

The Dynamic Content tool is very similar to dynamic ad insertion (DAI) tools used to swap ads/sponsorships in podcast episodes. The difference is that DAI often utilizes some form of listener tracking to target ads at specific people/groups. At Buzzsprout we respect the privacy of your audience, so this tool does not include any listener tracking, but it provides the number of times your content was downloaded!
